Julie B, fashion designer, stylist and business
owner, started her career when she was about 8 years old. She started making
dresses for her doll, Tabitha (young daughter on Bewitched).
She would cut and sew dresses from scraps of fabric. Within no time, she was
making clothes for herself and others. Julie B is a graduate from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in
Fashion Design and Technology. She took several additional classes in art and
retail. She worked as a designer, cad/graphic designer, visual designer
and free lance designer for small and large companies such as Nordstrom, Paul
Harris, Carmel Fitness, Sun Seekers and Sanibel Shells Resort.
In 2002, she decided to start a small cheerleading apparel business. Her first products were cheerleading accessories such as the U Cheer® Megaphone and Pom Pon. Within a
year, she was able to include fashionable clothing items that cheerleaders
could wear to school, practice and competitions. Her strong eye for fashion
and trends were applied to her clothing line. She combined fitness with her
company, U Cheer®, to promote safe, effective life for youth and adults.
Classes, seminars, workshops were offered to the coaches, parents and
cheerleaders. In 2007 she closed her business,
packed her bags and moved to the heart of fashion, New York City to pursue her dreams.
After moving to Manhattan, Julie B started working at Sports Club LA and working as a freelance stylist.
She was lucky to work with Stylist, Gus Romero in the summer for Saks Fifth Ave Holiday Gift Guide and Surface Magazine. Julie also assisted Costume Designer,
Lynn Falconer, for an upcoming movie, “Nothing But The Truth.” After taking
class at FIT, she worked for BB’s Backstage Wardrobe where she assisted in
styling and dressing fashion shows and showrooms for designers such as Tamara
Pogesian, Nautica, Vera Wang, Calvin Klein, YSL, Valentino, David Chu, Angel
Devil, Charles Nolan, Tuleh, Lyn Devon, Angel Sanchez, Rosa Cha, Baby Phat,
Erin Fetherston, Abaete, FORM by Jerry Tam, LaCoste, Sass & Bide, Pamela
Roland and more.
Recently Julie B is the Fashion Editor for FutureClaw Magazine. Her work include the recent spread in the February Issue, "Negatives, Part 2 and 3" and the article, "Philippe Audibert". Bobby Mozumder, Talia Fittante, Zinnia Mozumder and Julie B covered New York Fashion Week. They reviewed and interview more that 82 designers/fashion shows. It was an exciting and exhausting week for everyone. Julie B commented " I loved it and am looking forward to the next season! Please take a minute and review the recent article and spreads in FutureClaw Magazine. I am working on the May issue now which will be even more exciting than the last issue."
