"Julie is an amazing fitness instructor and I've been taking her classes for close two years. My favorite class with Julie is her barre class. It is by far the toughest class I've ever taken. I've seen changes in my legs which have become stronger and more defined, and in my core muscles as well. What makes Julie a great barre trainer is that she is very knowledge about the program. She careful demonstrates each position and then walks to each student correcting form, offering modifications when necessary (important to me with my knees), and giving words of praise, encouraging us to greatness. And she knows when to say to someone to take a break if necessary or when to push us to go to the next level." I.M.

"Julie is phenomenal.
I met Julie a year ago. Although I had been going to the gym regularly for years working out on the machines, my back hurt all the time and I found I was starting to gain weight. The gym manager talked me into signing up with a personal trainer, but although he was a nice person, the exercises the trainer gave me made my knees hurt and did nothing to help my back. And then one day while I was going to meet the trainer I noticed Julie was giving a class and I decided to try it out.
Julie has transformed my physique. I have been taking her classes three times a week and now weigh what I did in college, but I have better muscle tone than I did then! Julie is great because she focuses on total fitness, and works all your muscle groups. She also knows physiology and uses that knowledge to advise you on how to modify exercises if you have injuries or particular needs -- this is really important -- I have seen so many fitness instructors who are not conscientious about making sure people are doing exercises correctly and as a result they don't get the results or wind up injuring themselves. She also pushes you in a good way...encouraging you to test what you thought were your limits...only to find you can do even more than you thought you could. When I started Julie's classes, despite the time I spent with the trainer, I did not know how to do a proper squat, and lunges -- forget about it, I was afraid to even try one because of my knees...but thanks to Julie I can now do squats and lunges with gusto -- and all the back and knee pains are not an issue because my leg, back and core muscles are strong and they are able to properly support me. The one downside to Julie getting me in shape is that I have had to get new clothing because my old clothing is too big and doesn't fit right anymore ;). People keep telling me I look great. In a few weeks I am going to my 25th college reunion (yikes!) -- so many of my friends have given up on being fit, saying that once you pass 40 your metabolism dooms you -- I was starting to believe that was true myself, until I met Julie. She can help you meet your fitness goals whatever they are, no matter what your age is or whether you have old injuries or other physical limitations. Julie is the best!" E.C

I first met with Julie back when I was very overweight, and she helped me to lose the pounds to a healthy weight in a way that I had never dreamed in my whole life.
After that great achievement in losing weight, I had always played with the thought that once I attended her workout sessions, I could still eat whatever I liked and whenever I wanted. Since I am big on sweets, I just kept eating whatever I liked and lying to myself, thinking I can still keep the weight off as long as I worked out with her. But, the scale didn’t lie, and 5 years later, I gained 20 pounds. For a person who lost 50 pounds, that still doesn’t seem much; I told myself: ‘ from my outer appearance, I don’t look fat.’ However, health-wise, my body started telling me a different story.
In the summer of 2012, I took my annual health check up; it came back showing that I might have a fat liver. I freaked out. I later went for the sonogram, and it showed how this was because of my recent diet and how what I was eating was causing it. This being the case, it was enough of a warning sign that I understood that I could not play around anymore-especially with my lifestyle and how I was eating.
On that August, Julie asked me if I would be interested to try out this 30-day workout, along with a dietary weight lost challenge. I jumped right into it, and I thought, ‘it’s only 30 day, how hard can it be?’ Boy O boy, it was the biggest challenge ever for me. The program was not only about working out and following a diet, it was about unlearning about what I wanted to eat as well as getting a deeper understanding about food, training me how to think of food, but also teaching me what was a “real” potion of food versus eating just to eat.
In the 30-day challenge program, the classes are customized to each person’s need, physical comfort and capacity. Best of all- I found out I could workout at my own time and from the surroundings I feel comfortable. No weird staring from people at the gym or feeling people are ear dropping on my conservations with Julie during my workout. I have the total privacy of my trainer, Julie. It is just she and I in the whole time of session. This program is not difficult, however, IT IS very challenging, and what I mean by challenging is that it is a mental challenge, more than a physical one. There are so many times that I wanted to give up and just eat that cake or the dessert in front of me. But Julie was always there and gave me the support that I needed. She didn’t judge me, and she knew we all have weak moments, but she was very firm about her program. It is this attention that I received, working from beginning to end, which allows me to say that ‘I believe of her program works, and IT REALLY WORKS!!!’ All you have to believe is how the weight drops off incrementally to see how it really does!
30 days later, I lost almost all the weight I gained during the past five years (17 pounds in 30 days). I will not say that the program is easy, but the result and the health gains are sound, it is really worth every day of simple, honest effort (The mental challenge is not slump fall back on unhealthy desserts or huge potions of cake behind the glass windows in the stores that I walk by every day!) and genuine sacrifice ever step of the program. There are so many lose weight programs out there, but I know I will sign up for the next 30-day challenge program, so when its available again without a heartbeat, I will join. Because I know that not only I am benefiting more than just losing the weight, I am gaining a healthier and happier life, cultivating the right mind-set about food. Understanding this, I am not just doing the program with just a trainer, but I am doing this program with a CERTIFIED fitness trainer AND a wonderful person, who really is interested in every person’s well being as well. In this program, I am not alone; there are so many others that can vouch the same. That’s why this program works. S.G

“I recently completed a 30 day challenge with Julie. She has trained me in the past and she always pushes me to do my best. This however was our first time also including online sessions. At first I thought I wouldn't get as good of a workout as I do when we meet face to face. To my surprise I worked harder and I was in the convenience of my own home! It made scheduling our workouts easier. She gave clear instructions and great motivation. I got a great workout just from using my yoga mat, resistance band, hand weights and a sturdy chair!
I have accomplished a lot in this wonderful program. The program is not only about losing weight and dieting; it is more about learning a method on how to eat healthy food, stay slim and feeling happy about the process. Finally, even after the program, I am still continuing to incorporate the method into my own personal diet and work out.” Zuleika Barrios

“Julie's online personal training has been integral towards transforming my body into lean and strong muscle while also dropping inches and weight. This 30-day challenge was great! It is hard to go even a week without training with Julie and now I never have to no matter where I am in the world.” Joy N

I have been working out with Julie once a week for almost two years now. I met Julie through an awesome class she teaches called ShedTred class. I had just started working out routinely and wanted to start training with a personal trainer to help me with running and strength training. Julie has motivated me to reach far beyond my comfort zone. Julie plans each workout in advance and customizes the workout to align with my goals. She is creative and adds new exercises to each training session to make sure every hour is different. Since I started working out with Julie I have ran numerous races included three 10K’s and one half-marathon. I have also seen significant toning changes in my arms and stomach. Julie is an extremely well-trained professional and ensures your safety throughout the workout. A.M

Trainer with known results from her clients- 2013.
Julie B, Advantage Trainer has worked with this client who has a busy schedule with work, family and four kids (in school and college). Julie understands his needs, goals and schedule. Julie develops a fitness program for him that is balanced and effective as you can see. Take a look and read below. “Julie works on the whole body – range of motion, stretching and flexibility, strengthening exercises for big muscles as well as typically overlooked smaller muscles, cardio and balance. We also discuss diet and mental training too, which has been very helpful. She updates what we work on and incorporates new exercises into our training sessions, and makes sure I do things with the correct form and posture so that I achieve the desired benefits and don’t get hurt either. She knows my body, gets me to do things I wouldn’t do on my own, and we have fun too! This approach also gives me a great framework and things to work on when I am on my own in between our regular sessions. Since first beginning to work with Julie, I am not just in much better shape, but I also have a greater awareness of my own body along with a greatly improved mental outlook. I enjoy golf and I am hitting the ball farther and higher than ever. I am able to generate greater club head speed with the same effort. Importantly, with all of the core and lower back training, I am able to do this and play to a 4 handicap at age 54 with no pain or tension in my back. I look forward to continuing working with Julie.” - T. Flanagan

Julie is an extremely knowledgeable and effective trainer. She has been my trainer for over 2 years, and during this time she has always worked to help me achieve my fitness goals safely and successfully. If a part of my body is feeling weak or is injured, Julie knows what to do to strengthen me in that area! Her advice and training have been integral to my successfully climbing Kilimanjaro, my completing multiple half marathons, and to my plans to complete the marathon this year. I have also taken kettlebell classes and Shred Tred classes (interval training on the treadmill) with Julie, and those classes have made me stronger and more fit (and more fast!). She makes exercising fun (even when she is pushing me more than I want to be pushed), and I look forward to meeting her every week. S.Lewis- Happy Marathon Runner!

March 2011
I first came to Julie 6 months ago to get back in shape to
be the maid of honor in a wedding. A few months before that, I had knee surgery
after an injury and was transitioning off of physical therapy. I was doing my physically therapy at
ICE within LA Sports Rockefeller center and asked my therapist for a trainer
and he immediately recommended Julie.
I was extremely gun shy about working out/using machines again but Julie
sat with me on the consultation and spent a lot of time getting to know not
only my fitness goals but also about my injury, surgery, therapy, and recovery
progress. In addition, she consulted with my physical therapist in crafting a
program for me. Her
physiology knowledge and training experience was very impressive and allayed my
fears about training again. Since
then we have worked together 2-3 times per week and I am happy to say that my
knee is mostly recovered and I am working towards my fitness goals. Julie makes sure that every session has
a purpose and is different from the last to keep me engaged. She knows when to push me for the
last 5% without risking injury. She can tell the difference between when I am
just whining and when a muscle is fatigued. I have also taken her “All About
You” classes at Reebok. These classes are really intense but amazing for
results. It lets me see the “class teacher” side of her which is commanding and
engaging. She made personal contact with each participant so no one was left
behind, which happens so often in the more challenging classes. All in all, Julie is
tireless in all of her training pursuits- from her personal training clientele, her “All About You Classes,” the
Podcasts, and her group classes.
She is easily the best training perfessional I have had the privilege to
work with!

A letter to the General Manager at the Sports Club LA Rockefeller Center from Julie's client, Heidi. She is an amazing client who Julie has been working with for over a year. Happy reading...
April 15, 2009
Mr. Karol Gorniak
The Sports Club LA- Rockefeller Center
45 Rockefeller Plaza
3rd floor
New York, NY 10111
Dear Mr. Gorniak,
I am writing to tell you about an employee of yours who I think is just amazing. So often people find it so quick and easy to complain about things, but I think it's even more important to give praise and credit where and when it's due.
I joined The Sports Club/LA Rockefeller Center last July after belonging to a litany of clubs throughout the city, including NY Sports Club, Equinox, Clay and Asphalt Green. I had enrolled in personal training programs at each of these clubs, only to be severely disappointed time and time again. The level of service, total lack of care and focus on the clients by the trainers and the gym facility was astonishing.
During this period, I injured my left knee which resulted in extensive arthroscopic surgery. My orthopedist discovered much more damage when she actually "got in there" and this left me unable to walk for 3 months. After a lot of hard work in physical therapy, I was able to return to the gym for light exercise. I did so at one of the aforementioned gyms with a trainer. I figured I would be safer if I had a trained professional with me to help me get back into shape. I won't go into details, but suffice to say the trainer not only neglected my needs, but caused me to reinjure my knee. This tacked on 6 more months of physical therapy.
Once I was on the mend, again, I apprehensively thought I would give your sports club a chance. I signed up as a regular level member and received my complimentary training session with Julie Bobek. Julie sat with me on our first session and went over not only my physical limitations, but also my abilities, my work/life schedule and my goals. She helped me to see where fitness could fit into my life. I work for a very busy hedge fund and have a crazy schedule. We started slow, but Julie never gave up on me. She even checked on me when I was training by myself in the club and would follow up with encouraging emails.
We decided my first goal would be the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Julie got me ready for the walk and even came out to cheer me on when we passed by Rockefeller Center. My next goal was to be able to run again, something I was told I might not be able to do. Again, we checked with my doctor and took it slow. We also decided that swimming would help with cardio and overall strengthening without putting too much pressure on my knee. She was right. I decided to increase my club membership to the East Coast pass so I could swim at the Reebok club. I still primarily workout at the Rockefeller Center location since I think it's the nicest in the city.
Fast forward 7 months and I am now training for a sprint triathlon which will take place at the end of September. I NEVER thought I could do that. But Julie’s support and expertise in training me, has brought me to a new level of fitness. I actually like working out. I have lost 40+ pounds, built endurance and just feel so much better. My knee is at 98%, something I was told may never happen. As a result of me wanting to be at the gym, I upgraded to an Executive level membership. The facility at Rockefeller is great. Everyone I have encountered has just been so helpful and has provided such amazing service. But Julie just really is the stand out.
What prompted me to write this letter was a conversation I had with a client of mine a couple of days ago. She belongs to the Sports Club/LA in Los Angeles and I mentioned my membership here. I told her all about Julie and she was amazed. As I was telling her about Julie, it made me think, I need to let someone over at the club know what a jewel they have in Julie Bobek. I would appreciate it if you could share this with Julie's supervisor. I apologize, as I don't yet know his/her name.
Thank you again, so much, for all you and your staff has done for me. But I especially thank you for pairing me up with Julie.
I look forward to crossing that finish line at the triathlon and with your staff and Julie's help I know I will.
Kindest Regards,
Heidi K

Club LA/Rockefeller Member
I met Julie as the result of joining the gym
where she is a trainer, and having her assigned to me for my introductory
sessions. I was a multisport athlete in high-school and played Varsity
athletics through college. During this time I was constantly being driven by
coaches, trainers, fitness consultants and team-mates in order to improve on
overall ability and individual performance. After school I moved to New York
City and, like many transplant New Yorkers, spent my 20's working, drinking and
eating too much and exercising very little. An occasional run or ski trip was
the extent of my work-outs for over 10 years. I discussed this with Julie
during our first session and we built a plan that started from scratch…
literally.
Julie is a rare and wonderful blend of trainer,
motivator, teacher and friend. She has crafted a fitness program for me geared
towards improving my physique, athletic ability and overall health. With her
deep knowledge of multiple training disciplines, Julie delivers very creative
work-outs that are always challenging and never repetitive. By taking me
beyond my comfort zone she keeps me excited about both the physical challenge
and behavioral change that is involved in the lifestyle shift I'm trying to
achieve. As a result I've engaged in athletics again including skiing and
tennis, and currently I’m looking forward to a host of adventure races in order
to significantly improve my health and work-life balance. I couldn't imagine a
better result from any trainer or program!

Debbie Redish, Sports Club LA Rockefeller Center, New York City
I have been training with Julie for almost
a year now. Her sessions are very challenging and each one has a great
mix of cardio, strength training, and toning exercises. I've gotten
fantastic results which I know I never could have achieved on my own. In
addition to being a great trainer, Julie is sweet, fun, and always upbeat.
I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a personal trainer.
Julie Ward, Indianapolis, Indiana
Julie
B is my good friend and I miss her tremendously. I met Julie at a corporate gym
in Indianapolis, Indiana before she moved on to bigger and better things in
NYC. Julie was my step and body sculpting instructor/motivator. I loved going
to her classes. She worked us hard and made it worth our time. I always felt
that she truly cared about us and wanted us to get the most out of our
workouts. She expected a lot from us also, including a hoot or a count to let
her know that we were paying attention and giving it our best. She was always
fun to see and uplifting to my spirits. Julie was a great help in keeping this aging
body looking and feeling good. It was a huge loss to us all when she left. I
hope that you are lucky enough to enjoy her classes or personal one on one
training.
Bill Jaume, New York, NY
I was a client of Julie's for 6 months. Julie
created a program tailored to my goals of fine definition toning and
stability. Her techniques allowed me to improve my posture, eliminated
back pain, helped me be more flexible. Most importantly she taught me
fundamental skills to maintain myself on track when working on my own. I
also enjoyed the power-flex classes that Julie taught. She is an
energetic, enthusiastic teacher who inspires her students. Due to changes
in both our schedules, we have not been able to work together for a
while. I miss you very much, Julie.
Rita Hickey, New York City
Julie
has what you look for in an instructor/private trainer; her classes/sessions
are motivating, inspiring and informative. Form is of the utmost
importance and she is constantly telling us, not only which muscle or group of
muscles we are working directly, but what is being affected peripherally or
indirectly. It often helps take my mind off something that may seem hard,
and focus on just how much I am getting accomplished with each move. Each
class and session is exciting because she comes in excited to work with us and
teach us. No one is more thrilled when someone pushes past their limit.
It is a celebration we all participate in with and for each other. Julie
sets that tone.
Jorge Mendez, New York City
My
training experience with Julie was not only exciting, but also rewarding. I
really enjoyed Julie's personable attitude and guidance. She taught me the
proper routine to better stay focused and took the time to advise me on my
nutritional diet. Our focus was on the food portions and the exercise. The
objective was to loose at least 10lbs in about 8 weeks. With Julie's help,
I achieved my goal and was able to keep on track with my diet and exercise
regime. Because of her commitment to me, I have begun to live a better
lifestyle.
I would recommend Julie to everyone who wants to lose weight and live a healthier
life.
Sheri-Manager-NYC
Julie is fun, motivating, professional and
knowledgeable. She always had new ideas and workouts which kept me
motivated and challenged. To keep me on track, she had me create mini
goals every month. I would recommend Julie to anyone looking to change
their body and overall fitness level.
Selena, New York, NY
"I always had been overweight since I
was child. Whenever I attempted to lose weight, it was always a challenge.
My weight always going up and down like a yo-yo. In spring 2007, I met with one
of my college friends who noticed how heavy I had become after three years of
finishing college. This was a kind of a wake up call. I understood I weighed
one hundred sixty-six pounds at the time, and I knew this was such a heavy
burden on my five foot three body frame. I was not only very depressed during
the time but also sick a lot. My spine and my foot also suffered from this
extra weight.
First, I began to lose weight by not eating
for days and later on, this became a big problem. When I began to eat,
the weight came back like in the past. It was only until the summer of 2007, I
made a life changing decision- checking out a gym. What really changed my
lifestyle relative to my weight gain was my trainer, Julie. For a person, like
myself, who never stepped in a gym in her whole life. I was terrified of
working out there. I thought in these places there were only huge
weight-lifting women that have all these strong looking muscles that I thought
only a guy could have. But I learned differently. During that time, Bally’s had
offered one free training session for every new member and luckily Julie was
there on the day that I started. Since August of 2007, she has helped me go
from 125 pounds to 113 pounds in less than two months. In these two months of
training with her, I have learned so much that I was never aware of before. The
training I have received from her not only helped me to build up my physical
body but also to rebuild my self-confidence as a person. From the time she
worked with me, she has shown me that she not only cares in just a professional
way, but she truly cares about my well-being.
Before the sessions, she would spend time
with me to understand what my goals and what I wanted to gain from the training
sessions. She not only pointed out what I could do to increase the odds of
reaching my goals but also warned me of how some of ideas were unrealistic.
During each session, she would prepare new workout routines and spend time to
check out my diet to keep me on track. Before the end of each session, she
would want me to try new machines I never use in the gym. She wanted to show me
this as a way of seeing a healthy life-style as a life-long commitment that
should be dynamic and ever-changing. Julie wanted to make sure I would still be
interested in working out and to adopt this healthy lifestyle even when the
session had ended. She has opened a whole new door for me as it relates to my
personal health.
Now, when I go to the gym, I am not afraid that I
don't know what to do there. Having Julie as a personal trainer, I felt that
she was not only my trainer but also became one of friends who really cared
about me. I thank her for her great knowledge of fitness. She has helped
me to live a better, healthier and happier life."
Irene Ferrero, New
York, NY
Julie
is an amazing personal trainer. She knows how to strike the perfect
balance between challenging exercises and ensuring that you can still walk the
next day. Her greatest strength has to be her ability to motivate.
She takes the 'work' out of working out. All of a sudden the gym has the
same appeal that recess did-an opportunity to leave my desk, stretch my legs
and run free. So I have to thank her for not only helping me fit into my
clothes again, but for helping me transition into a better and healthier
lifestyle.
Sabrina,
Astoria, NY
I've trained with Julie for over a year and for the
first time in my life I love the way I look and feel. I decided to work with a
personal trainer because I was unsatisfied with my body and eating habits. I've
worked with several trainers in the past but I wasn't getting the results I was
looking for. I was starting to lose hope in personal training until Julie came
into my life. Julie took the time to listen and to understand my goals. She
also took the time to educate me on fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. She
offers helpful advice and tips to help me stay on track. Together we worked to
create a healthy lifestyle that includes eating right and exercise. Not only
have I gained will power, confidence and a toned physique, I also gained a
friend for life.
Lola Paris, Indianapolis, IN
I
took Step Interval class with Julie for 11 years. What a great instructor!
What I liked most about her class is leaving after an hour and really feeling
like I got a total workout. Not only did we do cardio work, but also toning. My
body was always in the best shape and I felt good too. I must say what really
kept me focused was the routine. Not a lot of turning and dancing, but moves
that everyone could follow. I miss her tremendously and my body and mind has
not been the same.
Zuleika Barrios, New
York, NY
I
am impressed with my personal training sessions because my trainer, Julie,
keeps me motivated. This is the first time I ever started taking my health
seriously and kept at it without falling off. She also keeps things
interesting. I get bored easily. So we always have something new and effective
to do. I think she is great in communicating with me, so that she is aware of
my limits. She pushes me when I need it and checks up on me regularly to make
sure I am doing my part. The first day we spoke about my goals and I thought I
could achieve and she's doing her best to make sure I reach that.
Dionna Hargraves, New York, NY
Saturday Step class at 10am is highly
motivating. Julie is a great instructor that incorporates intense steps with a
great attitude. Each week I am more physically challenge due to her impressive
routines.
Michelle Roark, New York, NY
Julie's Powerflex class is the best I've
found in the city by far. I also have memberships at NYSC and their classes are
not as good. Julie is great at keeping the class moving quickly, transitions
from one movement to the next. I love the way that each class is different. It
makes the class more challenging as well as more enjoyable. It challenges the
muscle groups more… which is what I am looking for. Plus I never get
bored. The resistance bands are a great idea for class!!
N. Rodriguez, NJ
Julie, the Powerflex Instructor on
Saturday mornings, is highly competent and motivating instructor. She
manages to challenges the class while being supportive, and takes a creative approach
to each individual class, that no 2 classes are exactly the same. My
continued membership is assured so long as Julie continues to be the Powerflex
instructor.
Agneskia Warenica, NJ
I've
really enjoyed Powerflex taught by Julie on Saturdays and look forward to
continuing in 2008. She is very innovative in terms of exercise so you
never get bored with the same routine.
